If you’re registered for GST and fuel tax credits, you can claim credits for excise duty paid on fuel used in eligible business activities. This applies to fuel used in machinery, equipment, light vehicles on private or off-public roads (sorry, public roads don’t qualify), and heavy vehicles.

Fill ‘er up… on fuel tax credits!

We know that fuel prices are doing their best to empty our wallets faster than we can fill up! So, it’s more important than ever to ensure you’re claiming fuel tax credits wherever possible (and legal!).

If you’re registered for GST and fuel tax credits, you can claim credits for excise duty paid on fuel used in eligible business activities. This applies to fuel used in machinery, equipment, light vehicles on private or off-public roads (sorry, public roads don’t qualify), and heavy vehicles.

But, not all fuels qualify. For instance, diesel exhaust fluids (like Adblue) aren’t taxable fuels, so you can’t claim credits for them. Here’s the scoop on what you need to do:
⛽️ Claim on your BAS using label 7D.
⛽️ Use the correct rates – they changed on 1 July and 5 August, so the fuel tax credit calculator is your best friend to avoid any mistakes!
⛽️ Keep complete records to support your claim and ensure you’re only claiming eligible fuels.

Oh, one more thing… the rate you use depends on when you acquired the fuel, the type of fuel, and what you’re using it for. So, accuracy is key here.
